APEPS Department together with the Department of Laser Technology and the Institute of KPI superhard materials NAS is working on computer modeling of temperature fields arising under the influence of laser radiation on materials.
In particular, the modeled processes:
Three-dimensional mathematical model of unsteady nonlinear differential equations in partial derivatives are used. The problem was investigated and improved method of splitting with adaptive sample rate calculation area. Programming modeling systems implemented in Pascal among Delphi 7.0.
The process of vacuum arc deposition is widely used for applying decorative and wear-resistant coatings. The quality of the sputtered material layer is defined relative number and size of droplets that make up the surface. The process of evaporation necessarily accompanied by the ejection of droplets large enough condition in which the flight goes from a liquid to a solid.
One of the methods to combat large drops of condensate is the use of electromagnetic and mechanical filters that block the path of particulate flow and transport of plasma. One important problem that needs to be addressed in geometric modeling filter surface plasma is performed quantitative assessment of his lingering (reflective) properties. As the number of parameters may make reflections and reflection direction at a time when leaves particulates filter.
Objective: to create a theoretical, algorithmic framework and software for geometric modeling process steam cleaning material flows. Work carried out in cooperation with the National Academy of Sciences Institute of Electric.
Modern control system parameters nuclear power plants in the structure of APCS NPP does not provide for automatic recognition of the current mode of critical components and systems, namely the reactor plant, main circulating pumps, steam turbine. Solving these problems directly responsible for operating personnel of nuclear power unit.
Problem develop neural network models with new features for automatic recognition of appropriate early stages of the process of of pre modes of operation is important.
The project aims to create a set of mathematical models and related software for the automatic diagnosis of the main equipment of nuclear power plants based on the methodology of artificial neural networks.
Methods based on modern concepts neyromatematyky and artificial neural networks, pattern recognition theory, spectral analysis and digital signal processing, stochastic dynamical systems theory.
The department APEPS in collaboration with the laboratory of the Department of heat pipes NPP and ITF NTU "KPI" Design of software for calculation of temperature field and heat pipes sotopanelnyh structures with heat pipes.
Sotopanelni designs used for the manufacture of shells spacecraft heat pipes provide cooling.
When designing structures to determine its optimal parameters there is need for mathematical modeling of temperature field sotopaneli. The basis of the mathematical model is non-stationary heat equation. Also under development information structures algorithms for parallel simulation on multicore systems and clusters.

Subject area is the theory of deformation of objects under the influence of any factors.
Research findings are used if necessary to obtain the mathematical model of the object after changing the geometry. For example, the study of dynamics of the edge of burnout during the forest fire in predicting changes in the shape of clouds, weather forecasting is at a certain time, when monitoring the change in shape after the oil spill environmental disaster, and so on.
One of the promising trends of world energy is electricity generation through the use of solar photovoltaic equipment that removes a number of problems associated with the depletion of organic energy requirements and environmental safety.
Energy efficiency photovoltaic power systems carried out by various methods, primarily due to increased efficiency when converting solar energy into electricity and the use of different types of electrochemical batteries for backup power supply customers in times of absence or decrease in the intensity of solar radiation.
The study of nonlinear processes of charge transport in photovoltaic and electrochemical energy converters using the methods of numerical and analytical modeling conducted APEPS Department and the Institute for Renewable Energy National Academy of Sciences, improves the level of research aimed at creating a more efficient and cheaper fotoenerhetyky element base.

The researches on solving scientific and technological problems of mixing in continuous media are developed at APEPS department.
Mixing technologies are used to predict the distribution of pollution caused by technological accidents in the atmosphere, and in the fluid environment. In addition, these technologies can be used in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry to develop new mixer designs.
Scientific partners of the department are: Institute of Hydrodynamics NASU, Kyiv National University by Taras Shevchenko, Technological University of Eindhoven (the Netherlands), Politecnico di Milano (Italy).

One of the priority directions of science and technology in Ukraine is to solve the problems of energy efficiency, especially for objects with decentralized heating system.
Replacing old appliances for new high-efficiency heating equipment can not be accelerated development and introduction of appropriate mathematical modeling and computer-aided design (CAD) systems heat and hot water.
The main problem to be solved in this area:
development of computer systems for calculation and optimization for the selected parameters (heat capacity, efficiency, coolant temperature, dimensions) promising new designs of boilers that meet modern environmental standards and provide ever-increasing demands for economic use of fuel;
ensure acceleration of the developed units of production by reducing the time to create working drawings and eliminate errors at this stage.
