The IO2019 - 20th Congress of the Portuguese Association for Operational Research will be held at the Polytechnic Institute of Tomar from July 22 to 24, 2019. The APDIO Congress will once again be our main event for professionals, researchers, teachers and students interested in Operational Research.
In the age of data and data science, the paradigm of boundaries and overlaps of various disciplines has been widely discussed. Operational research employs advanced analytical methods that support better decisions. From the data, the ability of computers to learn without being programmed is called automatic learning. What happens when we put these definitions together? In the conception of IO2019 we intend to advance in the discussion about these two disciplines and how to get synergies from their integration, in order to improve the decision making process in organizations and in society.
We will celebrate the success of our 20th congress in the city of Tomar, a central and welcoming place that combines the monumentality and history of many centuries with the modernity of companies such as IBM, which also joins this congress.
In this way, we appeal to the entire community to participate by submitting papers. Full papers accepted in the review process will be published in the Springer Proceedings in Mathematics and Statistics series. This series has been indexed by SCOPUS, so it is expected that IO2019 proceedings will also be indexed.
